So beautiful.

a powerful and moving ceremony,

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseville, MI

a secret first dance

at one of their favorite hideouts,

a trip back to the place it all began,

outside Old Main on Wayne State's campus, Detroit, MI

another first dance in the library of a historic mansion,

…and then maybe a kick line to some Frank Sinatra.

She is two!

Ta-da! My little girl is not so little any more. On Sunday, she turned two. I can’t believe how quickly she has been changing. She now tells me things like, “I can do it,” “Leave me alone,” and “Give me the camera, Mommy.”

These images are from our mini-vacation to Houghton Lake over Memorial Day. Give her some bubbles and an afternoon with Grandpa, and she’s over the moon.

And the best part is, all this bubble-blowing leads to very long, very peaceful naps – a luxury for mother as well as child!

Nicole and Jon: Canvas Designs

Here’s a preview of Nicole and Jon’s wedding and some of the wall art designs I presented to them. The largest is a 30×30 canvas with a grid of images from their wedding and reception. The others are 16×16 canvas designs with a digital mat – the little green lines mark the point the canvas wraps around the stretcher frame. I can’t wait to share the rest!

I have fallen off the blogging wagon lately, but I’m trying to get back on. I’ve done so many awesome sessions with Wayne State actors, and I really want to share! Brian and I had a good time touring Wayne’s campus, and we even ventured a little farther afield because there are so many cool things along Woodward Avenue. Fans of my work will recognize some familiar sites, as well as a little variety in the urban, local flavor.

I love the graffiti on this wall. There’s a shop/gallery inside, and this is their storefront.

He’s such a sport! “Hey stand in this basement stairwell. You can do, that right?” Just kidding! The stairs were under this cool fire escape:

He’s got such a friendly smile. I love it!

Engagement: Ari and Mark

Ari and Mark have been married for a month (!), but since I’m blogging the backlog of fun shoots I’ve done so far this summer, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite engagement portraits from their session.

Aren’t they sweet? This is the image that we used on their wedding gallery announcement cards that were handed out at the reception.

We went down to the Arb in Ann Arbor and meandered around one of the trails. I love this image – it’s awesome to photograph a couple who really are good friends to each other.

Ari’s engagement ring is beautiful!

I’ll admit it – I’ve got a soft spot for pictures of kisses. Especially the ones that are passionate and playful!

Laying in the grass…a classic Arb passtime! Ari and Mark were kind enough to humor me.

When we were wrapping up the shoot, the sun had begun to set and lit up the evergreens on the opposite side of the hill. The light is so intense, the trees looked like they were on fire. It was a lovely way to end our outing.

Next up I’ll have images from Mark and Ari’s gorgeous wedding. They had a beautiful, emotional ceremony in a garden, followed by a nonstop party reception – photos of dancing guests and celebration abound!
