They’re here! Woo-hoo! I had a bit of a headache trying to get them, but it had nothing to do with Zazzle. They were great, and the quality is really nice. If I had to guess, I would say the pearl paper I ordered is Stardream cover stock, which you can find at Paper Source (I covet their entire catalog!), or at Envelope Mall (more about this awesome paper retailer in another post). It’s got a opalescent sheen to it and a slight texture. (As an aside: I used this paper for my own wedding invitations, and I got tons of compliments!) The cards are sturdy, and the printing is good quality. If I had to do it again, I would select images that are naturally a lot brighter, and perhaps larger. The sheen of the paper obscures detail in some light, but that’s the tradeoff for a unique effect. Overall, I’m really happy!

It took forEVER to decide on a design for the cards. The whole idea of marketing and branding is fascinating to me, and I have always been a hands-on person, for good or for bad! This, of course, led to countless hours of selecting fonts and playing with images. I wanted a playbill style vertical card, which meant a lot of time spent fiddling with point size & kerning on the fonts. I think the finished product has enough class and whimsy and retro feeling to tie into the style of my photography. What do you think?

If anyone wants a more in depth explanation of how I designed the card (or any of the elements of the website), I could see about writing up a tutorial. I think this playbill style would make awesome wedding invitations!
